She+ Geeks Out Power Up: Up Your Strategic Game Sponsored by Starburst Data
October 20 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
One of the most significant barriers to growing into leadership is whether or not we’re perceived as strategic. (If you haven’t already, go read Jess Iandiorio’s article on SNS syndrome!). Often we focus so much on executing and driving results that we get labeled as operational and not strategic. It’s an unfair perception, and this panel is dedicated to helping you increase your strategic contribution and move into the leadership role you want.
In this panel, you’ll learn what it means to be strategic, how that affects your career progression, and how you can overcome some common barriers to being in a strategic role. This is a timely topic as recently research has shown that the pandemic has been particularly bad for women’s career progressions. We’ll be focusing on the actions you can take in your career to become more strategic and make sure your strategic contributions propel you forward!
5pm-5:30pm: Networking! We’ll have table topics for people to virtually join, up to six to a table
6:30pm-7pm: More networking!
Colleen Tartow, Director of Engineering, Starburst Data
Bhuvana Husain, Senior Director, GrubHub
Lily Konings, Product Designer, Facebook
Jess Iandiorio, CMO, Starburst Data
How is this going to work?
This will NOT be a Zoom meeting (yay!)… you’ll be able to network in small groups of up to six people per table prior to and after the webinar. You get to choose where you ‘sit’ and there will be lots of pre-created topics that will be work and fun-related (furbaby and humanbaby pictures, book ideas, TV show obsessions, all welcome here).
You’ll get all the info on how to access the platform through Eventbrite and below is a screenshot of what you can expect it to look like when you’re in and virtually talking with people!
Thanks so much to Starburst Data for sponsoring!
This event is a womxn-focused event that intends an inclusive definition of womxn. We are welcoming and respectful of womxn, including trans womxn and those who are nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and anyone who identifies as a womxn in a way that is significant to them. We also welcome allies who are committed to creating environments that are supportive of people who are typically underrepresented in the workplace and beyond.
Please make sure to read our code of conduct before coming to our event!
“I absolutely loved the tables! IRL events I have horrible social anxiety so it’s super hard for me to dive into a conversation by walking up to a group. Having these set topics made me feel instantly welcomed and able to really get into the topics with everyone. I wish more events were run this way.”
“For being a virtual event, it was surprisingly easy to engage and feel connected to people. I loved the UI with the tables and table topics, and the speaker part worked very well too.”
“Wonderful content and great conversations. This was my first event and I found it very valuable. I also loved the virtual interface, it’s very user-friendly.”
“The speeches were intriguing and the online forum was incredible! The virtual chairs and tables where attendees could mingle, offered a perfect alternative to physical meetups during our time of social distancing.”
