Responding to Current Events: Successful Ways to Support Your Team Members

June 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free
Join us as we discuss how to respond and react to current events that may be impacting our colleagues.

It’s no easy feat to stay updated with the latest news, especially as it relates to information that impacts members on our team. However the truth is that we can’t pretend that harmful things aren’t happening in many communities. Whether a certain group of people are being killed at a disproportionate rate because of their identity, or there are policies and laws being passed that affect the livelihood of children and their families, we have a responsibility to pay attention and respond appropriately. In this webinar, Co-CEO Felicia Jadczak and Learning Development Manager Fatima Dainkeh of She+ Geeks Out will:

  • Create space to name and honor communities that are being negatively impacted
  • Share ways we’ve responded from our positionalities and identities
  • Provide tips to both employers and employees on how to support one another virtually and in-person

Who should attend?

This webinar is open to anyone interested in learning more about how to react to current events that are happening, in order to support colleagues and employees within their organization. All genders welcome!

Land Acknowledgement

She+ Geeks Out was originally founded on land that is the traditional territory of the Massachusett and Pawtucket tribes, and which is still home to descendants of these peoples. At this point in time, the SGO team is fully remote, and we are located across the United States. Land acknowledgements are a way for us to reflect upon the duality of our work— while we work within our team, our community, and our client organizations to promote greater inclusivity and abolish inequities, we ourselves still perpetuate and contribute to various forms of historical and present oppression. We are now operating in a virtual space, but we can still honor and name the physical spaces we all inhabit. We encourage you to learn more about the lands you are currently on and reflect on your own place in this work.
